Match Report

Londesborough Park entertained league leaders Carlton Towers last Saturday and produced another polished performance to maintain their impressive start to the campaign.

Following heavy showers during the week the benefits of winning the toss again and having first crack at the opposition with the new ball on a slow track soon paid dividends when the ‘Ginger One’ bowled Wright for 8.  The prized wicket of Coleman was claimed by opening bowlers Rich Foster with the delivery and the ‘Ginger One’ with a well taken catch.  The Carlton batsmen, used to playing on a Tarmac road on their own patch, then capitulated as Tissiman and Foster bowled unchanged in a 31 over spell which resulted in the opposition being dismissed for just 84.  Even the odd long hop produced wickets as the batsmen failed to come to terms with the conditions and the Park maintained their high standards of catching and fielding.

The condition were, if anything, slightly more testing when the Park responded and despite a solid start by Big Bird and Sam Medley both batsmen departed with the score in the twenties.  Skipper Charlie Rook dug in and was ably assisted by Sam Dodd, the pairing easing the Park towards victory before Rook fell for a hard earned 36.  No further drama unfolded and another 30 points were safely banked.

The Britcom boys are away this Saturday in their ‘feature fixture’ – the County Ground, North Marine Road, Scarborough.

Carlton Towers 84 (M Tissiman 6-39, R Foster 4-31)  Londesborough Park 85-3 (C Rook 36)
