So far so good, the boys have responded really
well to the coaching sessions on a Friday night, this being born out
in the results of the matches.
We have had 25 different players so far, the”
ethos” being to try and give as many boys as possible a game while
still trying to win!!
With regularly over 20 on a Friday, it is good
to have Malcolm Milne plus 2/3 parents to help give more quality
coaching. It maybe, if we have similar numbers next year, we can
enter 2 teams into the League.
The annual club Hog Roast is on Sun 20th
June. We will be playing an exhibition game, hopefully against
Heworth, if would like tickets for a fun day please contact George
Drewery 07817 673940 or Chris Barlow 07831149983 by Friday 11th
so food can be ordered.

LONDESBOUGH
PARK UNDER 11S PRE SEASON UPDATE
Relevant points
1.
Pads/bats/gloves are all provided by the club, please ensure
the boys have either a “jock strap”or wear 2 pairs of pants so their
essentials can be protected!! A protector/box is available to use
from the kit bag if needed.
2.
Club shirts/jumpers/caps are available via George Drewery, if
you require any of these I have some forms to fill out size & type,
just ask.
3.
We need someone to register players as they arrive and take
their £2 fee on a Friday night, it is literally a 10 minute job, but
we will be busy with the boys so it would help to have a volunteer,
please let me know if you can help.
4.
Matches are not on a set night, they depend upon pitch
availability.
5.
There will be 8 league matches (we are one of 3 leagues the
top team from each league goes into the playoffs with the best
runner up)
6.
We are entered in the cup and have Stamford bridge as our
opponents.
We are here to try and teach them how to play
the team game of cricket with a smile on their faces, obviously we
would also like to win matches but the important bit is to learn the
game and for them and us to have some fun along the way. Any issues
throughout the seasons please speak to myself or Neil.
Regards
Phil

Rain delays final at LPCC
We have
lots of players on holiday now but the season is not over! The biggest
match has been rained off three times and will now be played on the
morning of Sunday 6 September. York must be sick of travelling to
Londesborough to play the York League play off final, but will have to
visit once again to decide the York League under 11 champions. This is
a re-match itself of the Cup final which York won by the narrowest of
possible margins, so we are out for revenge.
Also
watch out for the awards evening and single wicket competition on Friday
4 September – all players and parents welcome!

Play off semi-final comfortable
LPCC
270-1 (Nathan Saltmer 12)
Ovington 237-6 (Lewis Medley 2-8)
Londesborough eventually won the semi-final play off against Ovington
with something to spare but not before a few anxious moments as Ovington
fought well. Charlie Cartwright showed what a bit of application could
do, bowling an excellent three over spell to wrap the game up after
Ovington had threatened the Londesborough total with some big hitting
against bowling and fielding not up to the usual LPCC standards. This
was a morning match and a few LPCC players were still waking up as
wickets fell when Londesborough batted first. Nathan Saltmer came to
the rescue again, backed up well by Ben Shingles after a fight back had
been stated by Charlie and Lawton Sanderson and carried on by Owen Raper
and Matthew Richardson. In the end a well-deserved win was achieved
which took LPCC into the final to decide the best team out of 25 in the
three divisions of the York league in 2009……
