LONDESBOROUGH PARK UNDER 15
2009 SEASON
REPORT
FIXTURES/ RESULTS
MON 27TH
APRIL HOME V DUNNINGTON
LOST
Rearranged at the
request of Dunnington we played this game later than scheduled due to
first attempt being rained off. Actually played 15th June.
In a heated exchange
Dunnington took the honours with once again a spirited performance from
LPCC U15s falling short on the night.
MON 11TH
MAY AWAY V HEWORTH
LOST
Lost to Heworth.
Heworth batted first
and amassed 156 runs from 20 overs.
LPCC all out 108.
MON 18TH
MAY HOME V YAPHAM
This game was rained
off / delayed and was not rearranged.
W/C 25TH
MAY AWAY V ACOMB (CUP)
LOST
After travelling all
the way to Acomb we managed to bowl 5 overs before the heavens opened
and the pitch and the square were immediately under water.
In order to gain a
result for this three times re arranged fixture we agreed on a bowl out
on the artificial wicket, in the torrential rain with the nylon turf
itself submerged.
The opposition
managed to hit the stumps 3 times while we struggled to even hit the
strip in atrocious conditions therefore we were unceremoniously dumped
out of the cup.
MON 1ST
JUNE AWAY V STAMFORD BRIDGE
LOST
On a glorious
evening at this famous ground we managed to snatch defeat from the jaws
of victory.
Posting a reasonable
total batting first our atrocious bowling and terrible fielding display
handed the match to Stamford on a plate.
MON 8TH
JUNE HOME V WILBERFOSS
LOST
Wilberfoss visited
the Park and LPCC won the toss and elected to bat. 107 for 3 in 20 overs
was a low total and Wilberfoss overtook it with 2 wickets to spare in 18
overs.
MON 22ND
JUNE AWAY V WOODHOUSE GRANGE
WON
Travelling to the
stronghold at Woodhouse Grange we didn’t hold out much hope of a result,
however a stronger LPCC side than of late came up against what their
umpire confided was the worst U15 team he had ever had at Woodhouse. As
such we managed to come away with the points and a very good win under
our belts
MON 29TH
JUNE HOME V OSBALDWICK
WON
Another strongly
favoured side arrived at our ground expecting to walk away with an easy
victory however they didn’t count on the fire power in our lower order
and a good innings from our opener Tom Sowersby who managed a 50 batting
straight through the 20 overs.
Again we had a
surprise victory but this rally in results came too late to save our
season and therefore we did not make any playoffs.
SUN 5TH
JULY ZINGARI TOURNAMENT @ HYMERS
Four teams in a
competition held in the resplendent setting of Hymers College we came up
against Goole Town U15 in the first match and narrowly escaped victory
by accepting defeat with a lacklustre batting display.
This put us in
playoff position for 3rd and 4th place and up
against the host team Hull Zingari U15.They had been soundly trounced by
Patrington in their first game and came out fighting however we managed
to overhaul their total and end up in third place collecting a cheque
for LPCC coffers in the sum of £150 from the High Sheriff Trust charity
sponsor.
SUN 19TH
JULY LPCC 6-A-SIDE
SUMMARY
In summary we
struggled to field our strongest side at the start of the season mainly
due to other commitments and various schools sitting GCSE exams at
differing times. Parental control being exerted to favour revision
rather than cricket matches.
Once we got our
strongest team together we had two good wins but this came too late to
save the season and we could not compete in any of the cup or league
playoffs.
In all a
disappointing season with so many promising players absent from so many
matches.
We must look forward
to a few of these players pushing for places in the Saturday mens league
teams be it 1st or 2nd XI as soon as possible.
