Britcom sponsored Londesborough Park's 1st XI all but
guaranteed their 2nd division status when they hosted
Whitkirk in a highly entertaining encounter last Saturday.
Rich
Foster was at the helm once again and entrusted the new ball to Dazzler
Moody and the 'Ginger One'. A rare wicketless spell from Dazzler saw
the visitors progress steadily to 45 with Murphy dominating the
scoreboard until Tissiman struck twice in consecutive overs. With the
score on 118 Murphy (70) became Tissy's 3rd victim. Two
catches by Greg Drewery behind the sticks took the strike bowler's tally
to 5, interspersed with skipper Foster's dismissal of Walker, caught by
Stephen Croft for 45. Runs were at a premium as Foster continued to
make inroads. The innings concluded with 2 wickets in the final over
including a run out from action man Tissiman as the visitors were
dismissed for a gettable 185, thanks to senior pros Foster (4-38) and
Tissiman (5-62 from 22 overs).
Following an early set back when Stephenson was bowled in the 4th
over, Big Bird and Sam Medley proceeded merrily along until the latter
was trapped LBW for 25. James Hanley (13) and Ben Lewis accompanied Big
Bird to take the score to 102 but two quick wickets without addition
swung the contest slightly in favour of the Loiners. However Tissy and
Big Bird tipped it back towards the Park with a partnership of 38 before
the latter's fine knock drew to a close on 65. The Park's tail nibbled
away but it was squeaky derrière time as the loss of Tissy (27) with 15
deliveries remaining and only one wicket in the bag set up a tense
finish. However it was smiles all round as youngster Stephen Croft and
the skipper navigated the Park home on 168-9.
Just
3 points from this weekend's fixture at relegation haunted Pocklington
will ensure division 2 status for next season. The Whitkirk match ball
was kindly sponsored by Wise Solicitors.
