The
2nd XI's commanding start to the season was put to the test
by Thorpe Arch & Boston Spa's 2nd string and it was the
visitors who came up trumps.
With
skipper Croft taking a back seat on the sidelines Tom Williamson lead
the troups in the field. Tom Sowersby made early inroads with 2 wickets
and Rob Sawyer had Bentley caught behind by Chris Mitchell for 28.
Raine and James added 43 for the 4th wicket before Michael
Drewery and Stephen Croft reduced Tabs to 118 for 6 including the
dismissal of Raine for 50. The batsmen were then assisted by some
wayward bowling as Williams peppered the boundary for 51 before he was
bowled by Croft, the TABS innings concluding on a healthy 194-7.
The
Red Lion sponsored Park's reply suffered an immediate set back as
Drewery perished off the 2nd ball of the innings. Sam Dodd
and Tom Williamson restored order with a partnership of 41 but a staedy
flow of wickets hampered the Park's efforts and when Dodd was run out
for 51 the writing was on the wall. Croft stuck around and Liam Barlow
made a quickfire 20 but it was all in vain as the unbeaten run came to
an end, the Park all out for 128.
A
bit of a wake up call for the second string who host 3rd
placed Welton & Brough this weekend. Thanks to match ball sponsor The
Goodmanham Arms.
