Park entertained 3rd place Welton
who arrived looking to return to
winning ways, Welton Skipper G.
Chapple won the toss and asked Park
to bat. Londesborough got off to a
poor start and at 2-2 feared an
uphill struggle. S. Dodd with 2 50s
in the lst 2 weeks and returning
student Callum Robertson steadied
the ship with a stand of 62 until
Robertson was dismissed by the wily
S. Wilson. Captain S. Croft entered
the fray adding 76 for the 4th
wicket before he became one of T.
Fosters 3 wickets (3-17). Parks tail
helped Dodd (76) post a challenging
182 all out in 42 overs.
Following
a superb tea Welton set about the
run chaseand with 48 overs in which
to achieve this set off a a steady
pace. Good tight bowling by R.
Sawyer and J. Sowersby saw Welton at
42-2 off 15 overs, opener D.
Fairbank run out going for 2 by a
fantastic flat throw from the
boundry enabling skipper Croft to
remove the bailes. Park introduced
youngsters B. Lewis and S. Croft to
try and break up the blossoming
partnership of S. Bedford (46) and
S. Wilson (21), Lewis bowling
tightly and Croft bowling well the
batsmen took the score to 88-2. By
the 34th over with 14 overs left and
a score of 94 Welton tried to
accelerate, Leg spinner S. Croft
took full advantage taking 6 wickets
in 6 overs for 12 runs backed up by
some excellent close catching, T
Noble also bowled well dismissing A.
Chapple leaving the final pair to
safely negotiate the last two overs,
Welton closing on 121-9 in 48 overs.
