2010 Golf Day Report

Fantastic weather greeted the 34 teams of golfers at Hainsworth Park, Brandesburton for our 15th Annual Golf Day

Bananas & photo,s on the 1st Tee set  many off into the trees!. Numerous players admitting it was a year since they last held their clubs in anger!- some excuse…

Half Way House hospitality proved as popular as ever – stocking up on more calories ready for the back nine “burn off” and a chance of a prize – or maybe a win on the raffle was the more realistic expectation.

The all 3 to count holes especially the notorious 15TH Pond  Hole again got the blood boiling over in the increasing heat of the day. Some even managed double figures there as the water claimed its usual fair share of new “Nikes”.

Early Guiness drinkers found the course challenging with reports of mature oaks moving around as they lined up there next shot!- still it’s a great day out was the cry..

The final hole proved the greatest challenge for many when the shake up draw from the umpires hat proved daunting and in many cases destructive to what was a good card. The winner here was still 3.6m from the pin. The add on putting challenge was yet again a chance for a prize of yet more new balls to replace those lost in the pond or up the Oaks! 225 proved a winning score after a heavy investment of £1.

The 19th did a roaring bar trade whilst finally devouring the ever faithful tasty Gammon Egg  & Chips  plus pud.

The usual Park volunteers worked hard on the long near 12 hour day to see the club through a yet another very successful & enjoyable day with funds increased by £1500 – sufficient

to pay the current club insurance bill.

The club Chairman sadly avoided his usual role on the day due to cry for help from across the Atlantic – but will be back next year for the 2011 event on Wed 1st June  - as we hope will all our loyal golfing supporters of this well established fund raiser.
