Junior Update
The Park's junior section, sponsored by The Star Inn,
Sancton, continues to enjoy coaching sessions and competitive matches
with the under 13s conquering all before them. The recent victory over
Osbaldwick B, following on from successes over Thixendale and
Pocklington, confirmed them as undefeated champions of York & District
Junior Cricket Association Zone C. There's plenty of cricket to come
for the youngsters with cup matches, league play offs and 6-a-side
competitions. For full details of match reports and forthcoming
fixtures log on to the Park's website www.lpcc.org.uk

Drinks at Junior Sponsors refurbished venue "The Star Inn, Sancton"
Ben Cox owner from the Star Inn, Sancton was
down at the Park last Friday having a photo call with our Under 11s
players, coach & our Chairman Robert. As our new Junior Sponsors
they have provided cricket shirts for 3 teams. He also handed out
promotion leaflets to Robert inviting prospective customers to go
& see the recent re- furbishment of the Star Inn. So if you want to
pop along see the new premises & have a complementary drink with the
owners. Then 4.00pm onwards this Thursday is the time & place. Just
mention Roberts name & Londesborough Park CC !!!
Hog Roast and Yorkshire games
Last Sunday's weather turned out to be most conducive
as 150 players, members and guests enjoyed the annual hog roast at the
Park. The under 11s provided excellent entertainment in their match
against Heworth, running out victors by 2 runs, which was followed by
succulent pork, kindly donated by Phil Stephenson and expertly cooked,
calved and served by Sam Dodd and John and Jill Williamson. Thanks to
the club's social committee for organising the event, George and Janet
Drewery for manning the bar and preparing the food, Sue Medley, Phil
High, Steve Dodd, Ian Hodson for manning the 'crossbar challenge' and
many other who contributed to a excellent event.
On the same day Park junior James Hanley was selected
to represent Yorkshire Cricket Board against Cumbria Cricket Board in
an under 13s match at Barton C C, near Richmond. Yorkshire batted first
and James opened the innings. 40 overs later he was still at the crease
having completed an undefeated maiden century a fantastic
achievement. James's contributed 103 not out in a total of 253 for 3
which proved way beyond the Cumbrians who were dismissed for just 41.
Congratulations to James who has come through the
junior ranks at the Park and whom the club is very proud of.
