Londesborough Park’s first XI entertained Yapham on Saturday and having
lost the toss were invited to bat first. Tom Jennings (48) and James Beevers
(42) gave the Park an excellent start, putting on 82 for the first wicket,
before Jennings was caught just two short of his half century. Martin Pearson
(29) then joined Beevers for a partnership of 35 until Beevers was also caught
with his 50 in sight. After Martin was out, Scott Hardwick (15*) and Tom
Williamson (13) kept the scoreboard ticking over, the final total being 171-8.
Alex Nattrass (12-2-40-6) did the damage for Yapham.
Yapham lost their first two wickets in the 7th over,
courtesy of Ciaran Brooke (12-1-41-3). Ciaran’s third wicket followed in the 12th
over, and then another flurry of wickets saw Yapham reduced to 48-7, helped by
two wickets from Tom Williamson (8-2-18-3) and one for James Beevers
(8-2-12-1). Mike Newhouse (48*) and Alex Nattrass (14*) secured Yapham a losing
draw, finishing on 134-8.

Pearson 29, Alex Nattrass 6-40)
Yapham: 134-8 (John Flint 21, Jack Holman 27, Mike Newhouse 48*,

The Deep Blue Fish & Chips Man of the Match award went to
Ciaran Brooke for removing the top 3 batsmen.
The second XI travelled to Drax on Saturday and secured another 30
points. Fielding only 10 players, Drax were reduced to 94 all out with tight
bowling from Steve Mudd (6.2-2-26-4), Joel Taylor (10-7-9-1), Darren Moody (8-2
35-2), Mark Tissiman (3-3-0-2) and Matthew Dunn (5-1-14-0). The wicket taking
was supported by two catches from young keeper Toby Williamson.
Londesborough found no difficulty in securing the win with the
loss of only two wickets. Contributions from Joel Taylor (24), John Coote (39)
and Edward Smith (23) saw the Park home in just 13 overs.
Steve Mudd was the recipient of Deep Blue Fish & Chips Man of
the Match award.

The
Foss Evening League team travelled to Copmanthorpe on Wednesday for a match
where they hoped to return to their winning ways and consolidate their push for
promotion. Londesborough batted first and struggled as wickets
fell quickly and cheaply; the top 6 batsmen all going for single figures. Henry
Smith (16) and Oliver Rook (16), supported by Sam Young, gave the Park some hope
however. The Park were eventually dismissed for 78, a below par score but a
great recovery from 35 for 7.
Copmanthorpe probably thought the points were in the bag, however the
Londesborough bowlers had different ideas and they also took wickets cheaply.
James Beevers (4-15) and Edward Rook (3-1) were the pick of the Londesborough
bowlers as Copmanthorpe were bowled out for 71.
As a result of the win Londesborough now share top spot in Division 4 with
Bolton Percy, with one game to play.
