Londesborough Park’s first XI came out just on the wrong side of a
close encounter with Bridlington on Saturday. They invited the visitors to bat
first, and only Simon Leeson (89) made a significant contribution towards their
final score of 161-10, the Park taking the last wicket with two balls to spare.
Wickets from Joe Shingles (3-26) and James Beevers 3-41) kept the score down to
an achievable target.
In the face of a good bowling attack the main highlight of the
Londesborough innings was Martin Pearson (58) delivering his first half century
of the season. Michael Drewery (25) supported, but the Park couldn’t get over
the line for the win, the tenth wicket falling with just seven deliveries left
and only 11 runs needed for victory. Sam Edmundson (4-11) and Ryan Boyes (4-41)
were the pick of the Bridlington bowlers. A very close encounter and a
performance that the Park can be proud of.
Bridlington: 161-10 (Simon Leeson 89, Joe Shingles 3-26, James
Beevers 3-41)
Londesborough Park I: 151-10 (Martin Pearson 58, Michael Drewery

The Deep Blue Fish & Chips Man of the Match award went to Joe
Shingles for his excellent bowling display.
Londesborough Park seconds were gifted 30 points on Saturday when
Heworth IV couldn’t raise a team. The seconds only have one game left now and
should secure a very creditable third place in the division.
