Londesborough Park Cricket Club News story

Match reports 21st May

24 May 2016

Neither of Londesborough Park’s senior teams managed to evade the inclement weather last Saturday as both matches were abandoned before completion of the first innings.

At Malton the Britcom International sponsored 1st XI took to the field first and struck early when Tom Sowersby bowled Ben Holtby for 3.  Sowersby then doubled his tally, Tom Audsley caught by Ben Shingles for 11.  Opener Bradley Freer completed his half century and progressed to 65 but was then sent packing, caught by Sam Dodd to earn Tom Williamson a wicket.  That was as far as proceeding went as the rain intervened with the score on 100 for 3.

This Saturday the Park host table toppers Scarborough 2nd XI.

The Red Lion sponsored 2nd XI took first knock against Civil Service at the Park with experienced pairing Ian Hodson and Edward Smith occupying the crease.  The latter was first to depart, caught by Andrew Luff for 5.  Eddie Rook kept the scoreboard moving with a solid 32 and Lucas Stephenson chipped in with 15 before being stumped to reward Jamie Thornton with a second wicket.  Hodson remained unbeaten on 18 and the Park on 87 for 3 when the heavens opened and no further play was possible.

The seconds have a double header this weekend when they travel to Goole on Saturday and then to Copmanthorpe on Monday.

The annual Londesborough Park Golf Day is just around the corner as a record 35 teams will descend upon HainsworthPark, Brandesburton once again on Wednesday 1st June.  For further details please contact Margaret Milne on 01430 873352.

Another date for the diary is Thursday 2nd June when East Yorkshire under 13s are due to host Leeds Central under 13s at the Park.
