After the glorious weather the previous week away at TABS it could only be that with LPCC X1 due a home game that rain be forecast-- with 4 washouts at the park already this season a 5th was looking likely if you believe the met office. 
This week Patrington our visitors. 
Skipper Moody won his 8th toss of the season and elected to bowl. 
Tissiman opening up with Greg Drewery as 'the pilot' took over the gloves, both bowled with good pace and accuracy early doors but the Patrington openers were up to the challenge. First wicket went to Tissiman bowling the away team captain for 8. After the opening bowlers had done there job last weeks centurion James Hanley and bournville lover Ryan 'full toss gets wickets' Curtis began to make inroads. Hanley removing the impressive Connor McKinley for 15 caught behind by Ryanair's finest pilot. Curtis ended pollards stay for 49 caught by Tim. Hanley removed batsmen number 4 and Curtis shifted number 5 both lbw, Hanley(3/24) bowling brilliantly removed Eggett snaffled by Beevers at slip. 
With the Scoreboard reading 120/6 and LPCC firmly in the driving seat the heavens opened and along with it an early tea. 
After about an hour off the field for rain and the new regulations for teams batting first the away team still had 45 overs to bat and Patrington set about hitting the ball to all parts, slowed only by Greg Drewery(3/43) bowling his 2nd spell and picking 3 wickets on the way. Patrington declaring after 43 overs on 208 and setting the home team 31 overs to bag 30 points. 
The message was simple and it was to go for the 30 points.
Hanley and uncle John where back together, john hitting 11 until clean bowled in the 3rd over. Greg in at 3 and the youngsters ran between the wickets well and hit the boundaries regularly, both looking in excellent form until James walked passed a slow straight one and was stumped for 13(unlucky for some) Mr airforce one in at 4 and wasted no time at all to get going cleaning the ropes/white line and running quick singles, Greg departed on 26 giving the slips some catching practice, Lewis 'I play when I want' in at 4 added 51 with Nettleton until Ben misheard Tim's North Dalton calling when wait really means GO and was ran out by a direct hit for 23, James Beevers in at 5 pushed the scoreboard on nicely with Tim who had now got his 2nd 50 of the season and looking to bring the 30 points home, Tim and James adding 61 together until Tim's innings ended going for another 6 over the sight screen for 75-well done. The score now on 187/5, Rhys didn't last much longer as he was run out going for a 2nd run, this was pretty much game over as Patrington bowled and had the field set well as the boundaries dried up and LPCC finishing on 198/6 from 31 overs and just falling short. 
A excellent competitive game with both teams wanting the outright win.
