Match report LPCC X1 vs Easingwold 2's

17 May 2015

On a dry and sunny but not so warm Saturday afternoon the Park 1st XI hosted a 10 man Easingwold II. Stand in skipper Tissiman won the toss and had no hesitation in putting the opposition in to bat, on a used wicket that had a greenish tinge to it.
Park's opening bowlers stared the innings well, bowling tightly with little luck to restrict the visitors to 23 for 0 off the first 10 before Joe Shingles made the breakthrough removing Robinson for 13. This was followed up by Shingles picking up 3 more wickets in an excellent spell of swing bowling finishing with 4-29 off his 12 overs. After Greg 'chin strap' Drewery run out Wells with a direct hit Easingwold were reduced to 45-5. Ryan 'the burglar's apprentice' Curtis replaced Shingles at the lama end and picked up 2 wickets of his own leaving the opposition in trouble at 70-7. Following this some average bowling and resilient batting allowed Easing wold to recover to 161-8 off their 45 overs. The mood in the home dressing room at the half way point could not be described as cheerful.

The mood was brightened somewhat by an excellent tea courtesy of Janet Drewery. Park started their reply shakily with Phil Stothard on his way back to the hutch after just 3 balls. Greg Drewery joined Harry Gamble at the crease and the pair steadied the ship and started scoring at an excellent rate before Drewery fell, lbw for 39 with the score on 70. Gamble was bowled not long after for 31, and the game was in the balance at 86-3.
Charles Rook and James Beevers, however, both batted well, putting away the bad ball, to see their side home inside 32 overs. Rook and Beevers finishing not out with 49 and 40, respectively.

Londesborough's unbeaten start to the season continues into the fifth game of the season with the visitors york next weekend
