This week the 'Britcom' sponsored X1 traveled to the picturesque town on Helmsley to face Duncombe park.
Stothard returned to the fold after a week off to train his Stella Artois drinking skills, also returning Tom 'Ladies Man' Eagling.
The wicket had plenty of sportsmanship in it for batting and bowling.
Skipper Moody won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Set at total of 150 to chase down in 54 overs Phil and youngster Harry set about attaining this total with Phil playing his usual, if it's in my half its going and Harry been watchful.
First to depart was Harry clean bowled missing a straight delivery. In next was Gregory Drewery who continues to believe that the 8 strands of hair on his face constitutes a beard(when will he learn), Phil and Greg played positively until Phil was adjudged LBW for 29(53/2). 12 runs later Greg departed in his usual giving his wicket away hitting the ball upwards instead of over the ropes. Batsmen 5,6,7 came and went leaving veteran Rook stranded at the other end. At 80/7 needing another 71 runs it had the making of a typical roll over and die Londesborough Park batting performance, but not this week as Tom Eagling fresh from a night out in York the previous evening decided he was going to play his natural game and attack the bowling, a 47 run 8th wicket stand between Tom and K-Breezy saw the Duncombe park enthusiasm slowly go until Tom was caught behind for a excellent 33 of 42 balls including 7x 4's.
Next in was Joe Shingles(the man that never gets out) to join Kieran who was patiently waiting for the bad balls whilst rotating the strike and never looking like getting out.
With 24 runs still needed and the skipper in next and not in the best of moods due to the earlier batting collapse.
Not that we had to worry as Joe and Kieran wasted no time hitting the winning runs to see LPCC steal victory from the jaws of a defeat, Joe finishing 14* and Kieran 25* from 55 balls.
Earlier in the day skipper Moody decided to give Tom Eagling his first proper bowl for 2 seasons(he used to be rapid apparently).
Joe shingles continued his excellent form this season removing veteran run machine Lackenby for 5 edging behind to keeper Drewery. Eagling at the other end was matching Joes pitch marks with nothing but short hostile bowling upsetting the opposition opening batsmen. Tom bowled with excellent pace and when the radar was working was unplayable. Next wicket again went to Joe bowling the other opener Campbell around the back of his legs.
A 30 partnership between Medd and Sails was ended when Skipper Moody gained extra bounce and the batsman looping the ball to Eagling at mid on.
Kieran removed number 5 lbw and the scoreboard reading 78/4. Number 3 Sails was still playing positively until Moody removed him caught Keiran for his first of 4 catches. The returning Eagling removed D Medd for 23 and the rest was history as skipper Moody claimed his 1st 5 wicked hall for over 2 seasons leaving Duncombe Park all in the 36th over for 150.
A game that was made more difficult than it should of been with some sloppy bowling, poor fielding and ordinary batting at times. Disregarding that 30 points achieved and gets LPCC back on track after last weeks defeat to York 3's.
Men of the match went to Eagling, Moody and O'Brian.
Next week top of the table Selby travel to Londesborough in what should be a cracker of a game.
