Duncombe park match report

16 Aug 2015

This week LPCC X1 played host to Duncombe Park hoping to get back on the winning trail after last weeks loss to York 3rds.
Upon loosing the toss and was asked to bat LPCC made a flying start as Rook promoted to opening wasted no time hit playing positively.
First wicket fell with 62 on the board as Charles was out lbw for 42.
62/1 became 81/2 as Gamble gave the only person on the leg side boundary catching practice. Stothard was into his stride of walloping the ball to and over the ropes, when Beevers was bowled101/3, then Stothard was given out caught behind for 33.105/4.
LPCC then lost there next 6 wickets for 32 runs.
137 all out in the 38th over.
So with 51 overs to chase down the low total LPCC needed to show some fight and that they did after an opening stand of 37 was ended when Moody removed Leckonby for 7, 37/2 when Tissiman Bowled Skelton for 26.
A 41 run stand followed as the away team rode there luck and punished loose bowling.
Rook removed Medd 78/3, Tissiman bowled Kent with a cracker of delivery swinging back in to hit middle stump. Joe shingles returned to claim the wicket of the away team captain for a lucky 42 when Drewery took a 1 handed catch. 106/5
Tissiman claimed his 3rd and 4th wicket bowled and lbw respectfully. 106/7 became 107/8 and it was looking good for the home team.
Unfortunately the next wicket fell when Beevers bowled Schofield with 4 runs required and last man Crange thick edged a short ball from Eagling to win the game.
