Patrington v Londesborough Park Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 17 May 2014 at 1:30pm
Match was Drawn Losing
Match report
After a week off due to the inclement weather, LPCC 1Xl returned to action away at Patrington. Missing the services of young Greg Drewery as he decided to jump on the Hull City band wagon for the 1st time ever, but with the return of veterans Williamson, Nettleton, Moody, Rook and the man with the biggest feet in the East Riding Tom Sowersby.
After a gentle impromptu look around the village we arrived at the picturesque ground just a tad outside Hull, a good warm up followed and everyone in good spirits. The toss took place and upon hoping to loose it to not have to make a decision skipper moody again proved that tails indeed never fails and decided to bowl on a very rough looking dry track.
Skipper Moody and big foot himself(Tom Sowersby) took the new ball, bowling with accuracy and Tom bowling with great pace. Tom getting his 1st of 3 wickets taking the scalp of the home team skipper with a ball keeping low for a lbw, numbers 3 and 4 playing every shot in the book came and went for not very many to Tom. finishing with exceptional figures 3-28 in a 12 over spell in hot weather,
A partnership of 69 was ended by Ryan(2-40) dismissing Dixon for 33 and followed that up soon after with a good caught and bowled, James Beevers was next up with the wicket of Pollard(52). After some aggressive batting and very sloppy bowling on a low bouncing track Moody returned for the end of innings hiding, luckily taking 3 wickets and restricting Patrington's scoring further.. 202/9 helped further by 27 extras..
After tea it was down to John and Pilot Tim to set about the chase and with the pitch having no pace or bounce and good bowling from the home team it was always going to be difficult, john departing to lbw to a ball keeping low, a good partnership of 60 between Nathan(26) and Tim gave the park a glimmer of hope until Nathan was bowled, unfortunately Tim was bowled soon after to another low bouncing ball for 40 just as he was looking in good touch. Charlie Rook(32) looking again in good touch but with a lot of work to do was bowled by J McKinley, wickets began to tumble and it was down to 'man of the match' Tom Sowersby and veteran Foster to see out the final 2 overs. LPCC finishing on 138/9.
LPCC will be looking to kick start there season next week away at Driffield 3's
