Driffield v Londesborough Park Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 24 May 2014 at 1:30pm
Londesborough Park Cricket Club Lost

Match report LPCC 1Xl made the short journey to Driffield this weekend hoping to kick start the season after the early season rain and 2 losing draws. The forecast showed no hope of getting 90 overs of cricket at all. But what do weathermen know.
After sitting by his phone all morning and having numerous texts and calls asking the same question "is it off yet"(you'll be the first know, was my reply) from the skipper. The 12:15 meet at the local wine bar came closer(I best pack my bag). We made the trip to Driffield, upon arrival with no rain but a tad moist.
Skipper Moody again won the toss(3 out of 3) and decided to bowl on a relatively dry track just the ends a tad wet..
With a 2pm kick off Moody and Sowersby took the new ball, opening batsmen from Driffield dug deep with the ball swinging and seaming with relative ease as Darren and Tom struggled for rhythm.
After a partnership of 38 Moody took the scalp of Greavson(19) caught by James Beevers, following that up soon after with a excellent leg stump Yorker to dismiss jenkinson for 0. The introduction of veteran Charles Rook to ball his bag of liquorice all sorts was a good move as his extremely slow medium proved difficult to get away and was very unfortunate not to claim himself a few wickets..
A partnership of 68 between Wookcock(21) and Wooley(68) was curtailed by Ryan Curtis(3/29) with a catch by Rook taking the scalp of Wooley, then followed up with a juggling caught and bowled of Woodcock.
There was a excellent run out by James Hanley with a direct hit from the boundary(he drooped a catch prior). Some aggressive batting from skipper Richardson and R Woodcock ended Driffield 3's innings with 170 of 41 overs.
Credit to Greg drewery behind the stumps who did an excellent job and good to see him back there(he never shuts up)
An excellent tea with some amazing scones followed.
New opening pair of Hanley and Rook took to the field in confident mood and settled in nicely until James was unlucky to be run out of a dropped caught and bowled. Rooks(21) innings ended by a good delivery from suggitt nipping back in and biting top of leg stump. Greg was in good touch until he miss timed a slow off cutter to gully. This brought Tom 'nearly as good as his brother' Medley and Steve 'I don't drive to away matches/slogger' Dawson to the crease with the scoreboard reading 48/4, what followed was a partnership of great patience and maturity with both dispatching bad deliveries with good control.
After Tom(38) departed trying to smash the locals bedroom windows, another good partnership of 49 between Beevers(26) and Dawson, both taking the singles and hitting bad balls to the boundary.
With 5 wickets remaining and 17 runs needed and plenty of time left, the game was looking all but done, until what can only be described as an England batting collapse as the park was all out for 167 with 3 balls to spare. A collection of bad shot selection, wanting to get the first victory and Driffield not dropping a catch(we dropped 4).
A good game and well played Driffield.
Special mention to Steve Dawson who finally hit his first half century and is flourishing batting at 6 and fully deserved his man of the match Fish and chip voucher.
