Londesborough Park Cricket Club 1st XI v Carlton Towers on Sat 31 May 2014 at 1:30pm
Londesborough Park Cricket Club Won

Match report Match day 6.
And finally LPCC 1Xl make there first appearance of the season at 'fortress park'.
After the torrential rain of the last 7+ days the ground was looking as amazing as ever(we are blessed), the wicket looking like it had plenty of life in it for both bat and ball.
Unlike previous weeks skipper Moody lost the toss(3 out of 4)and the park unsurprisingly was asked to bat(no disappointment there).
As always sticking the same 11 out on the field never happens, so new additions this week were Lewis, Tissiman(back from 2 weeks at Butlins) and debutant Phil Stothard after a 5 year cricket career break.
Luckily this week the opening pair stayed the same of Hanley and Rook, a watchful opening stand of 22 was ended when Charles gave mid wicket catching practice, soon followed by Nathan shortly after, both departing to the impressive Carlton bowler Sam Pocklington(3/27) who bowled with good pace and swing.
This brought youngsters Greg 'D' Drewery and James Hanley(28) who added 19 together until James also decided to dish out some catching practice.
Phil Stothard joined Greg and began the rebuilding of the innings dispatching the bad balls with class not seen for 5 years and rotating the strike with the field pushing back, a good debutant knock for Phil of 22 and I'm sure more runs will follow when back in the swing.
Steve 'slogger' Dawson at his position of number 6 joined Greg with the scoreboard reading 96/4, lots of work to do to reach the magical 200+. Both began batting with patience, waiting for bad deliveries and running quickly between the sticks, Greg now fully into his stride and batting with confidence only he has(gets it from his mother George tells me) brings up his first of what will be many 50's of the season, his innings ending on a excellent 63 of 65 balls.
Ben Lewis strode to the crease at number 7 with time to get his feet moving but also rotate the strike to Dawson who again was playing to his strengths and hitting balls in his strike zone over the ropes. A quick fire partnership of 52 when Steve top edge a delivery to the keeper, Ben following soon after for 21. 3.5 overs left saw the skipper and his vice looking to get the team over the 200 mark, and Tissiman did just that hitting the ball in the gaps for 4 and finishing 18 n/o off 11 deliveries.
LPCC finishing on 219/7 of 45 overs

The standard for the seasons teas at home was set high as we indulged in an amazing tea provided by Mrs M Saltmer, again we are blessed at londesborough.

Regular opening bowlers finally back together, the friendly, polite duo of Moody and Tissiman took the new ball, the captain may of changed but Tissiman downhill back wind doesn't, a quick opening spell by the ginger 'Anderson' got him his first of what will be many for the season, a good partnership followed between Woffenden(37) and lister (42) was ended by the 'man the never loses it' Rich Foster(6-46) caught behind by Greg, Rich now finding the wicket to his taking, getting extra bounce and nip back inn and was giving batsmen a hard time and taking wickets at regular intervals. In too the attack after Tissiman was our 'leg spinning full toss man' Ryan Curtis who again bowled with good flight and now starting to show his Birmingham attitude towards his own fielders when they weren't in position correctly(Charles pay attention) took the wicket of Carlton skipper Torn expertly caught by Charles(now paying attention) in the deep, with Foster taking the wickets at his end and Ryan holding up the run rate at his, someone had to give and that the Carlton batsmen did, as with 5 overs left Moody following in the previous captains foot steps wanted the glory to himself and returned for another spell and taking the wicket of Spence for 0.
4 overs left the scoreboard read 146/9 and in the penultimate over Foster claimed his sixth and LPCC' 30 points.
An excellent competitive game and with lots of maturity shown when needed.
Special mention to Steve again for a great knock and Greg Drewey for both bat and expert wicket keeping.
And well done Richard Foster 6/46 and man of the match well deserved.
