Londesborough Park Cricket Club News story

Yorkshire success at the Park.

19 Jul 2017

Londesborough Park played host to two additional games last week. The first was an over 60's encounter between Yorkshire Ridings and Leicestershire. The weather stayed kind for a change and having lost the toss Leicestershire were invited to bat first, posting 114 in their 45 overs. Yorkshire Ridings eventually came out on top, chasing down the 115 runs needed in 42 overs. It's fair to say that the bowling pace was sedate throughout, and quick singles were rare, but it was fantastic to see these more mature gentlemen still enjoying their cricket well into their 60's. The game was played in great spirits and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their day out at Londesborough.

On Sunday the Park hosted Yorkshire Women's second XI, who were pitted against their Lancashire counterparts. Yorkshire started slowly when batting first, scoring just 1 an over initially. However they picked up the pace after drinks and eventually amassed a total of 170 from their 50 overs. After tea Lancashire started more aggressively and looked to be cruising to victory, however some tight bowling and fielding from Yorkshire late on pinned them back, Yorkshire eventually managing to bag the last wicket with Lancashire on 147 runs. Spectators travelled from all corners of Yorkshire and Lancashire and were treated to a competitive encounter and some glorious weather.
