Both Londesborough Park teams suffered at the hands of
Mother Nature on Saturday, when both were in strong positions to claim victory.
The first XI travelled to face Selby 1sts, who won the toss and elected to bat.
They may have regretted the decision when they were bowled out for 89 in the 36th
over, courtesy of wickets from Tom Sowersby (3-20), Scott Hardwick (2-26) and
James Beevers (4-19), and two catches and a stumping from keeper Tom Jennings. Only
Darrell Guy (36) got into double figures for the home side. The Londesborough
reply started positively, with Tom Jennings (18) and James Beevers (31*) posting
a partnership of 48 before Tom was bowled. Martin Pearson joined James at the crease
and the pair increased the score to 63-1, needing just 27 more runs to win, before
the heavens opened and no more play was possible.
Selby: 89-10 (Darrell Guy 36, Tom Sowersby 3-20, Scott
Hardwick 2-26, James Beevers 4-19)
LPCC: 63-1 (James Beevers 31*)
In the reverse fixture at the Park the second
team posted a challenging 189-7 in their innings, with debutant Tom Griffiths (68)
and Mark Tissiman (62) being the backbone of the innings. James Dugher (4-43) was
the pick of the Selby bowlers. In the second innings Selby were 38-1 off 17 overs
when the rain decided to intervene once again, bringing the match to an early conclusion.
LPCC: 189-7 (Tom Griffiths 68, Mark Tissiman 62, James
Dugher 4-43)
Selby: 38-1
The Wednesday night team’s game against Bolton Percy was
also called off due to bad weather.
Londesborough Park would like to thank their team sponsors Britcom
