Londesborough Park 1st XI faced Dunnington
II at home on Saturday and were invited to bat first by the visitors. At 46-3
Dunnington looked to be in charge, but valuable partnerships of 30 and 38 put
Londesborough back on track. Lucas Stephenson unfortunately fell two short of
his 50, and Tom Eagling (21) and Tom Williamson (21no) helped the hosts reach a
competitive score of 172-7.
Dunnington’s reply faltered early as they found
themselves on 0-1 then 12-2, but two partnerships of 54 and 41 put the visitors
in a stronger position. Scott Hardwick bowled well to take 3-33, and the
much-needed wicket of Josh Tattersall (45) was taken by a good diving catch by
James Beevers. But Tattersall’s 45 and Adam Dyson’s 47 not out eventually led
to a draw with Londesborough taking the majority of the points, keeping them in
second place in Ebor 2 division.
LPCC: 172-7 (Lucas Stephenson 48, Tom Eagling 21, Tom
Williamson 21no)
Dunnington: 132-7 (Josh Tattersall 45, Adam Dyson
47no, Scott Hardwick 3-33, James Beevers 2-38)
A late call on Friday night confirmed that Londesborough’s
second team opponents were having to concede due to lack of players, gifting
the Park 30 points but adding more disappointment to what has been a very
frustrating season due to the low number of matches played.
The Wednesday night team secured a much-needed win
against Heworth Colts mid-week. Londesborough posted 105-8, thanks in the main
to Martin Pearson’s unbeaten 37, supported by Lucas Stephens (14), James
Beevers (21) and Ben Davidson (12). The pick of the Heworth bowlers was Ben Morritt
who took an impressive 5-17 in his spell. Heworth’s Ryan Whitley put 30 runs on
the board in reply, support by 21 from Will Etty, but Heworth couldn’t reach
the required target, finishing on 82-7. Ben Davidson’s 3 over spell, taking 3
wickets for just 8 runs, proved to be their downfall, and the Park gained a
valuable 3 points.
Londesborough Park would like to thank this week’s match
ball sponsors Market Weighton Motors and Manterra Ltd.
