Londesborough Park Cricket Club News story

Match Reports 11th September

12 Sep 2021

Londesborough Park Cricket Club enjoyed a 60-point weekend as both teams took maximum points. The 1st XI travelled the short distance to Woodhouse Grange and managed to restrict the home side to 139 runs, bowling them out in the 40th over. Joe Shingles took 2-14 from his 12 overs, with an impressive economy of just 1.17, but Scott Hardwick took the bowling honours, taking six wickets for just 19 runs from his 7.4 overs. Ben Burdett top scored on 38.

After an early set back, losing the first wicket in the third over, Londesborough then found their rhythm and set about securing the win. This they did in the 36th over, thanks to 44* from captain James Beevers, 24 from Tom Jennings and 37 from Charles Rook. Londesborough 1st XI now have the opportunity to secure their place in Division 1 for next season with a play off on 18th September.

Woodhouse Grange: 139-10 (Ben Burdett 38, Joe Shingles 2-14, Scott Hardwick 6-19)

LPCC: 142-3 (James Beevers 44*, Tom Jennings 24, Charles Rook 37)

Londesborough second team entertained Hovingham at the Park. Gareth Davis (42) and Geoff Pears (26) applied some resistance, but another good bowling display by Matthew Dunn (4-32), Tom Williamson (3-24) and Darren Moody (2-42) restricted the visitors to just 114 runs. Again, despite an early wicket, the result was never really in doubt as Steve Dawson (47*) and Ollie Rook (43*) saw the home side to victory in the 22nd over, seeing Londesborough 2nd XI to fifth place in Galtres 3 division at the end of the season.

Hovingham: 114-10 (Gareth Davis 42, Geoff Pears 26, Matthew Dunn 4-32, Tom Williamson 3-24, Darren moody 2-42)
