Driffield 3's match report

10 Aug 2014

This week LPCC 1X1 entertained local rivals Driffield 3's looking to avenge our only out right loss of the season where cruising to victory needing, 17 runs with 5 men left to bat we succumbed to been all out 3 runs short.
Over half the team had changed from the previous week against Patrington.
Skipper Moody lost the toss and predictably was asked to bat on a dry used track-no issues there.
Rook returned to action after a fortnight watching his bank balance increase and opened up with James Hanley, a steady start from both as the combination of a slow wicket and slow bowling proved difficult to score of, a good opening stand of 81 was ended when Hanley(36) decided to give catching practice, number 3 went in and came back soon after moaning about the wicket- I won't name him-
Stothard looking to continue his run scoring form after a week off joined Charles and wasted no time in swatting the ball around the ground. Rook departing for a steady, well played 47 and the scoreboard read 112/3 and soon after 125/4 as Tissiman couldn't walk the walk at 5. Saltmer back after a week at Disneyland supported Phil who showed his usual attacking powers hit the ball over the line, maybe sometimes trying to hit the ball to hard. After Nathan was dismissed the most outspoken member in the club William Stephenson batted very well to help the park finish there 45 overs on 197/5. Phil unbeaten on a excellent 61 and Will 23.
The 2nd innings nearly got of to flyer with a sharp chance been dropped at slip of Moody 2nd ball and in the next over Hanley had a caught behind of a No ball.
Skipper Moody getting the 1st wicket caught behind by Greg. Next wicket took a long while as the Driifield batsmen dug in on a wicket that still had some demons in it. Rook on to try is bag of rubbish claimed the Wicket of Walker(34) caught Hanley at mid off, Rook claimed his 2nd with a generous decision caught leg side by Greg.
Tissiman replaced Moody who bowled his 1st 12 over spell of the year and claimed the wicket of Foster for a dogged 47. Sowersby Jack playing only his 2nd game of the season replaced Foster and got 2 match changing wickets bowling the away team skipper and a good catch on the boundary by rich foster for his 2nd.
Saltmer replaced 'the ginge' as skipper Moody mixed his bowlers up. James 'rocket arm' Hanley wasn't finished yet and Performed a quality run out from the boundary straight into keeper Gregs hands with the batsmen nowhere near completing his run, Saltmer bowling fast and straight cleaned up 9 and 10, leaving Tissiman to claim the final wicket bowling Hutton to give LPCC the 30 points and a 5th win of the season. Drifted all out 173 in the 41st over.
