LPCC 1 vs HZCC 2

31 Aug 2014

With 3 games remaining and a unrealistic chance of promotion LPCC 1Xl in a good run of form with 4 wins in a row, entertained league struggles Hull Zingari 2's.
The returning Skipper Moody yet again won the toss and inserted the visitors on a slow drying wicket.
Moody opened with veteran Tissiman(showing his displeasure of running into the wind), first wicket went to Moody of the worst delivery of the day, Tissiman struck next caught Greg 'D' Drewery. Youngster Saltmer replaced Moody and bowled the delivery of the day bowling opener Hales(28). Fittest man in the club Foster claimed 2 wickets 1 caught by Alex Varley and the 2nd bowled. At 70/6 things were looking good for LPCC, but unfortunately we took our foot of the gas as some sloppy bowling mixed with aggressive shots from Zingari. Whilst wickets were still falling,  the runs were ticking as Zingari were all out for 140 in the 45th over.
The reply got of to the worst possible start as Hanley shouldered arms to a straight 1. In at 3 the in form Drewery joined Stothard and the scoreboard began to Rocket as Greg raced to 50 and Phil playing his usual impressive innings until he departed for 42. Will Stephenson joined Greg and departed soon after. With the scoreboard on 105/3 and 20 overs left what happened next was fitting of India vs England in the test series as londesborough capitulated for the 2nd time this season and were all out for 131. Some terrible shot selections, complacency and too take nothing away from Hull Zingari whose spinners bowled well, the good run now comes to an end.
Well done to Greg and Phil and an impressive spell of bowling from Nathan who continues to improve with the ball.
