LPCC 1Xl kicked of the season away at Ripon, a lovely sunny drive up the A1 sticking to the national speed limit of course could only mean 1 thing. It was definitely going to rain later on.
Unlike the previous year skipper Moody lost the toss, and of course we was asked to bat, nobody ever bats first.
Last years leading run scorer Phil Stothard marched out to bat with youngster Harry Gamble now promoted from the LPCC development 11.
A slow start with the new ball making scoring difficult ended with the run out of Gamble for 4.
Next in was wicket keeper batsmen sensation sporting some sort of dodgy facial hair that the cat could lick off Greg Drewery.
As Phil and Greg began to make progress on a flat track piercing the infielders and taking advantage of the short boundary the runs began to flow, the usual hard hitting class of Stothard including 1 huge maximum of which the ball wasn't retrieved and Greg his usual quality of keeping the scoring rate up.
Stothard soon brought up his first half century of the year before drinks.
The next over after drinks Drewrey lost his middle stump to a good delivery.
In next was James Beevers to support Stothard in his quest towards the first century of the year.
Unfortunately at this point in traditional cricket season the weather the rain began to fall and the covers were on and a early tea was taken(and it was a good un)
