LONDESBOROUGH PARK CRICKET CLUB IS SAD TO REPORT ONE OF OUR GROUND WORKERS - WHO ARE KNOWN AS " LAST OF THE SUMMER WINE BOYS" HAS PASSED AWAY
Arnold Sumpner would have been celebrating his 90th birthday in September. Arnold featured in an article in the lpcc spring newsletter only a few months ago.
A note from club secretary Peter Milne on Arnold:-
A minutes silence took place prior to the home game last Sat v Ripon.
His name on the roller will remain & his work with us will never be forgotten - a great servant - you name it, he had a go at it including BBQ s for the groundstaff -
I was so fortunate to have been with Arnold at his home just the day before his departure - he was then planning on going down to the ground 3 days later to ensure we all enjoyed one of his special brews!! - thats as long as no one had found his tea & biscuits store!!
A family man & such a great character who I know got so much enjoyment working along with us, but in return we had such friendship, help, fun & banter back -
Arnold will be sadly missed by all at Londesborough Park.
The thoughts of the club are now with Arnold's family.
