On Wednesday 7th June the Londesborough Park Cricket Club annual golf day was staged once again at Hainsworth Park Golf Club, Brandesburton.
Typical British summer weather saw competitors challenging the elements as well as the course in dry and windy conditions. However all entered into the spirit and an excellent total of 29 teams completed their rounds. The club extends thanks to all who supported the event and in particular sponsors RBM Agricultural Ltd, Beadle Motor Services, Flowers by Sally May and Holmemade Bakery and to the staff at Hainsworth Park for their help and assistance throughout the day and, in particular, the greenkeepers for preparing the course which was in remarkable condition bearing in mind the torrential rain the day before.
In a close competition the winners were Peter Williamson, Steve Porter, Paul Hawkett and Trevor Walker who were closely followed in second place by Neil Stephenson’s team. Last year’s winning team, lead by Charlie Rook, had to settle for the third prize, followed in fourth by Danny O’Neill four. The nearest the white line competition was won by David Searby and the prize for the nearest the pin challenge went to former club coach Phil Stephenson. The ‘last chance saloon’ putting competition prize was won by Neil Stephenson.
The day generated a wonderful contribution to club funds in the sum of £1813. Congratulations and thanks to Margaret and Malcolm Milne, Malc Cartwright, Phil High, Nigel Botting, Maurice and Sheila Dodd, George Drewery, Jill Williamson, Graeme Beale, Robert Rook, Edward Smith and all club members who contributed to another successful day.
