Londesborough Park 1st XI entertained Stamford
Bridge II on a day more suited to sitting in front of the fire. With a slightly
late start, Londesborough were invited to bat first, losing the first wicket
with only eight runs on the board. However, a second wicket stand of 107
between James Beevers (51) and Martin Pearson (62) gave the Park an excellent
platform to build on. Scott Hardwick (19*) and Tom Sowersby (18*) brought the
rain affected innings to an end with an unbeaten partnership of 35, with the
score on 178-6. Mark Fairweather bowled well for Stamford Bridge, gaining 4
wickets for only 24 runs in his 11 overs. Jack Bagshaw also took 2-35 in his
stint.
Stamford got off to a good start with 37 runs achieved before the
first wicket fell. A short flurry of wickets followed, and the Bridge were
sitting on 58-3. Rob Gainer (31) and Paul Milner (23) held steady for a 50
partnership to get to 108, but another two quick wickets swung the game back in
Londesborough’s favour. Tom Sowersby, Martin Pearson and James Beevers all
contributed two wickets each, and after two very strong appeals debutant Toby
Williams finally claimed his maiden 1st team wicket with a fine catch behind
the stumps. The final result was a well contested draw, with Stamford finishing
on 133-8, and Londesborough taking the lion’s share of the points.

The second team were gifted a free week when Heworth

The Wednesday night Foss Evening League team got off
to a winning start with a good win over Tang Hall Tigers. The Park amassed
105-6 in their 18 overs, the top score coming from Tom Jennings (25), supported
by double figure scores from James Beevers, Tom Eagling, Chris Roper, Michael
Drewery and Joel Taylor. Pick of the Tang Hall bowlers was Adam Kirby with
3-22.
The Park’s bowling attack proved too strong for the
Tang Hall and they succumbed at 49 all out. Lucas Stephenson (3-15) and James
Beevers (3-7) both bagged three, and John Firmage found success in his over
with 2-3.
