Londesborough Park 1st XI travelled to York 3rds
on Saturday and found themselves just on the wrong end of a close-fought
encounter. Londesborough batted first and secured 144 in their innings, being
bowled out in the last over. Tom Eagling (35), Michael Drewery (27) and Lucas
Stephenson (23) were the main contributors with the bat, and York’s Tom
Backhouse managed to bag 5 wickets for an economical 41 runs.
York got off to a steady start, as Londesborough struggled to
break their opening partnership. Kieron Bloor (62) and Harry Contreras (28)
were key with the bat, but York only managed to cross the finishing line with
one over to go. Scott Hardwick (3-50) captured some late wickets to keep it
interesting, and credit must go to Londesborough for their perseverance as they
almost prevented York from getting the required runs, only to be pipped at the
post in the last throws of the game.
LPCC: 144-10 (Tom Eagling 35, Michael Drewery 27,
Lucas Stephenson 23, Tom Backhouse 5-41)
York III: 148-5 (Kieron Bloor 62, Harry Contreras 28,
Scott Hardwick 3-50)
Londesborough Park second team did not have a game
scheduled this week, and the Wednesday Night Foss Evening League team fixture
versus Bolton Percy fell victim to the weather and was called off.
Londesborough Park would like to thank their team sponsors Britcom
International, the Red Lion, and Michael Roe Motor Engineer, and match ball sponsor
XYZ printers.
