Both Londesborough Park teams faced their Selby
counterparts this weekend. At home the 1st team won the toss and
invited Selby I to bat first. Wickets proved hard to come by, as Matt Hoyle
(99no) and Mark Hope (92) were the main contributors as Selby set a challenging
target of 205 for the loss of only 3 wickets. Londesborough’s reply unfortunately
faltered in the 43rd over, unable to hang on for the draw and with
just 147 on the board. Opener James Beevers was the backbone of the innings, batting
throughout and unbeaten on 76 as he ran out of partners. Selby’s Lee Wild was
the pick of the bowlers with 4-31.
Selby I: 205-3 (Mat Hoyle 99 no, Mark Hope 92)
LPCC: 147-10 (James Beevers 76 no, Lee Wild 4-31)
The second team travelled to Selby and got off to a
reasonable start on a slow track, making 31 before the loss of the first
wicket. At 72-1 they were looking strong however a batting collapse saw them
falter to 117 all out. Chris Roper (26), Tom Griffiths (25) and Olly Rook (15)
were the notable scorers, and bowlers Chris Warner (3-25) and Dan McLoughlin
(3-24) did the majority of the damage with the ball. Londesborough were hopeful
during Selby’s reply as they reduced them to 89-7, with Olly Rook taking 3-37 in
his 12 overs and two tremendous catches, the first taken at cover by Chris
Roper and a second lofty one taken by skipper Edward Smith, but ultimately LPCC
couldn’t prevent Selby hitting the winning runs in the 40th over.
LPCC: 117-10 (Chris Roper 26, Tom Griffiths 25, Olly
Rook 15, Chris Warner 3-25, Dan McLoughlin 3-24)
Selby II: 120-8 (Chris Harkin 35 no, Olly Rook 3-37)
