Despite the poor weather forecast, the 1st XI did manage to get a game in against Driffield on Saturday, albeit with reduced overs. Driffield opened the batting and had amassed 93-2 before the heavens opened in the 26th over and forced a frustrating break in activity. After more than 2 hours delay, and the loss of 38 overs, the game eventually got started again, leaving Driffield 8 more overs to consolidate their score. With 8 wickets in hand, they increased their score to a challenging 141.
Londesborough only had 28 overs to chase down the score and found the going difficult. James Beevers (23) and Martin Pearson (22) top scored, but unfortunately no-one else managed to get out of single figures and the innings stalled on 95 all out.
Driffield: 141-5 (Mark Clarkson 65, Kevin Woodcock 28, James Beevers 2-21)
LPCC: 95-10 (James Beevers 23, Martin Pearson 22, Muhammad Hamza Khan 3-23)
The second team game at Wetherby fell foul of the weather and was called off mid-morning.
The Foss Evening League team had a good win at Kelfield mid-week. Toby Williamson (34), James Beevers (27) and Michael Drewery (29) helped Londesborough post a score of 140-6 in their 18 overs, setting Kelfield a challenging target to chase down. Kelfield failed to make the cut however, running out of overs 22 runs short of their target to give Londesborough the win.
LPCC: 140-6 (Toby Williamson 34, James Beevers 27, Michael Drewery 29)
Kelfield: 119-5 (Walker 30, Lawson 37)
