Londesborough Park 1st XI travelled the short distance to Pocklington on Saturday. Pocklington batted first and set a challenging target of 203, thanks to Ted Donkin (36), Ben Alport (37) and Ben Rees (32). The Londesborough bowlers finding success with the ball were Martin Pearson (2-44) and James Beevers (4-55).

Londesborough set about chasing down the score but suffered an early blow when they lost their first wicket without scoring a run. However, they settled proceedings down again and the score steadily ticked up towards the target with several decent partnerships, the most significant being 55 for the fourth wicket between Charles Rook (41) and Lucas Stephenson (43). On 170-7 there was hope that Londesborough might just sneak over the line, but when Scott Hardwick (19) was out with the score on 190-9 it was left to the Sowersby brothers to bat out for the draw and an important 19 points. Connaire Brattan and Harry Collins shared eight wickets between them for the home side.

Pock: 203-10 (Ted Donkin 36, Ben Alport 37, Ben Rees 32, Martin Pearson 4-44, James Beevers 4-55)

LPCC: 190-9 (James Beevers 21, Charles Rook 41, Lucas Stephenson 43, Connaire Brattan 4-40, Harry Collins 4-46)

The second team entertained 3rd placed Dringhouses and unfortunately had a bad day at the office, being bowled out for 89. Only captain Steve Dawson (26) really troubled the scorers; Awais Matloob’s 6-21 doing the damage to the home side’s innings. Dringhouses’ reply wasn’t as plain sailing as it could have been though as Londesborough managed to take 8 of their wickets before they managed to cross the line. Gareth Wilkinson top scored on 33, and Tom Williamson continued his impressive bowling streak with another economical five wicket haul (5-10).

LPCC: 89-10 (Steve Dawson 26, Awais Matloob 6-21)

Dringhouses: 90-8 (Gareth Wilkinson 33, Tom Williamson 5-10)

The Foss Evening League team headed to Heslington on a beautiful summers evening and came away with their second win on the bounce. Batting first, Charles Rook and younger son made a cautious start until Rook senior ran himself out. After two more wickets fell it was left to Steve Dawson (39) and Ollie Rook (38*) and a 12* cameo from Matt Ware to get the ‘Park to a respectable 131. Mark Curran took 2-17 for the home team.

Heslington’s reply got off to a fast start, with Chris Stonadge smiting 28 and Darren Hanley ably supporting him with 37. With 17 required off the last over Robbie Stonadge (22) gave it a good try, but a great last over from Billy Spruyt culminated in Heslington falling 7 short. Matt Ware (1-24) and youngster Ben Marson (1-26) were the pick of LPCC bowlers.

LPCC: 131-4 (Steve Dawson 39, Ollie Rook 38, Mark Curran 2-17)

Heslington: 124-3 (Chris Stonadge 28, Darren Hanley 37, Robbie Stonadge 22)
