25 Jul 2021

LPCC 2nd XI vs. Osbaldwick 2nd XI -24 July

The second XI entertained Osbaldwick down at The Park. Steve Dawson continued his poor form with the coin and was invited to bat first. The innings got off to a good start with gun opener Michael Drewery dispatching the ball to the boundary at regular intervals. Michael reached his 50 with the score on 71. Osbaldwick fought back taking wickets and restricting the score. Drewery eventually out for 71, bowled by opposition captain Rippon. Rippon went on to take 5-21 from 9 overs. A 9th wicket partnership between Darren Moody and Ollie Fiddler used up a few overs and took Park past 150. Park finished all out for 154 from 39 overs, Moody the not out batsman on 20. Park failing to use their 45 overs once again. Rippon the pick of the bowlers.

Londesboroughs response after tea was good. Jack Sowersby with 2 wickets both bowled and 1 for Harvey Laverack as  Osbaldwick were reduced to 1-3. The visitors rallied with opener Daw and Thompson. The pair took the score to 44, before an interesting run attempt resulted in Thompson run out for 25. Phil Jennings with the calm head and good throw. Good pressure from Parks bowlers made scoring difficult but they had to be patient. A few dropped catches and the ball beating the bat on regular occasions led to Parks frustration. A good catch from Joe Franklin off Moodys bowling eventually let Park in. Wickets then started to tumble and when Tom Williamson broke Daw’s resistance in the 36th over, the opener out LBW for 21, the rest of the batsman couldn’t stick around. Ollie Fiddler taking the final wicket, thanks to a good catch from Jennings, as under strength Osbaldwick were all out for 81 in 38 overs. Londesborough Park collecting a well deserved 30 points. Thanks also to Osbaldwick for not conceding after some late dropouts.
