With Thorp Arch & Boston Spa conceding, gifting 30 points to LPCC seconds, and the Wednesday night match falling victim to the weather, only the Park’s first team donned their whites this week. Entertaining Beverley 2nds on Saturday, they were invited to bat first. Things didn’t get off to the ideal start as the first three batsmen failed to get a start, leaving Londesborough on 10-3. But when Charles Rook joined Martin Pearson at the crease they slowly rebuilt the innings, with a partnership of 64 getting the home side into a better position; Martin falling five short of his 50 with the score on 74-4. Charles continued to occupy the crease as three partners came and went, but eventually also fell just short of his half century on 44, with the score on 153. Cameos from Joel Taylor and Scott Hardwick, and the gift of 23 wides, saw Londesborough reach a reasonably competitive 157. Connor Bowden and Matthew Saint shared 4 wickets between them, Connor conceding only 15 runs from his 12 overs, and Owen Parnaby bagged five of Londesborough’s wickets.
In response, Beverley lost an early wicket at 17-1, with a caught & bowled by Tom Sowersby. A second wicket partnership of 56 followed until Will Harrison (40) was out with the score on 73-2. This was followed by 2 quick wickets, the score now 88-4, but another important partnership between Bradley Graham (22) and Connor Bowden (34) kept the score ticking along. Despite taking 7 of Beverley’s wickets, with 2 wickets a piece for Joe Shingles, Tom Sowersby and Martin Pearson, Londesborough couldn’t prevent them reaching the target in the 42nd over and Beverley secured the win.
LPCC: 157-10 (Martin Pearson 45, Charles Rook 44, Owen Parnaby 5-50, Connor Bowden 2-15, Matthew Saint 2-44)
BEV: 158-7 (Will Harrison 40, Connor Bowden 34, Joe Shingles 2-33, Tom Sowersby 2-35, Martin Pearson 2-49)
