Londesborough 1st XI entertained top of the league Cottingham on Saturday. Having been invited to bat first the home side didn’t get off to the ideal start as they found themselves on 11-4. Fortunately, Ben Shingles (15) and Tom Eagling (42) steadied things down with a fifth wicket partnership of 57. A 10th wicket partnership of 37 between Joel Taylor (22) and Joe Shingles (9*) kept the score ticking along, but the Park were finally bowled out for 123, thanks to Danny Furlong (4-37) and Dom Rhodes (4-38).

With just 124 needed to secure the win, Cottingham didn’t get off to the ideal start either, Joe Shingles taking their first wicket with just three runs on the board. Londesborough were able to secure two more wickets, but Dom Rhodes was on form with the bat and saw the visiting team to victory with a quick 82 off 40 balls.

LPCC: 123-10 (Tom Eagling 42, Joel Taylor 22, Danny Furlong 4-37, Dom Rhodes 4-38)

COTT: 127-3 (Dom Rhodes 82, Joe Shingles 3-29)

The second team travelled to Bolton Percy this weekend and kindly let the home side bat first. Londesborough’s opening three bowlers produced another economical display. Darren Moody’s ten overs for 17 unfortunately didn’t reward him with a wicket, but Mark Tissiman (2-32 off 12) managed to bag the two opening batsmen. Ben Marson joined the party with 2-12 off his four overs, and Matthew Dunn also secured two wickets in his second spell (2-23 off 11). Bolton Percy finished their 45 overs on 139-9, thanks to Peter Atkinson (22), Howard Hall (29) and Michael Furze (34)

The Londesborough reply stuttered initially but captain Steve Dawson stuck around to frustrate the home side until he was out for 44 with the score on 113. With 27 runs still required to secure the win, Darren Moody took over the reins alongside youngster Tom Councell and they saw the Park across the winning line in the 40th over, Darren rewarded with 25 not out for his efforts. The pick of the Bolton Percy bowlers were Ben McWalter (2-33) and Howard Hall (4-26)

BP: 139-9 (Peter Atkinson 22, Howard Hall 29, Michael Furze 34, Matthew Dunn 2-23, Tissiman 2-32, Ben Marson 2-12)

Jack Cowling, Billy Spruyt and Harry Snelling shared the wickets between them. Londesborough secured the win with two balls left in the match, Toby Williamson (21), James Beevers (18) and Harvey Laverack (13) the leading contributors. Rich Simpson and Mark Curran took three wickets each but could not prevent Londesborough taking the three points.
