Match report at home to BTCC 2's

06 Jul 2014

After typical British weather the night before and early Saturday morning things weren't looking good at 9am, but with plenty of time to dry up.
LPCC 1Xl entertained local rivals Beverley town 2nd team.
The revolving door of players continues as in came Lewis, Sowersby and M Drewery.
Skipper Moody kept up his 100% record of losing the toss at home and with NO surprise was asked to bat first(you don't bat 2nd at londesborough anyway)
Rook and Stothard opened up and found the early going tough with good tight bowling on a used wicket. Rook equaled his highest score at home of 5 when he edged behind. A tidy opening spell from Dobson and Vodden had the run rate struggling when Stothard departed for 17. LPCC now needed somebody to step upto the plate and make a game winning innings. In came Greg 'D' Drewery with us all hoping he would be the man. Nettleton departed soon after, just not timing his shot correctly. Mike drewery joined brother Greg and tested the away teams catching... Everyone was getting starts but not kicking on as Dawson came and went, all the while Greg was making his way to his 'man of the match' fish and chips. The highest partnership of the innings/day was between Greg and Tissiman of 53, both was now hitting gaps well, Greg hitting a flat 6 into the wood which got no further than 10ft of the ground. Greg innings Came to an end when he was caught on the boundary for 64.
LPCC closed up on 174/8.
After tea Moody and Mark(only plays well against Beverley)Tissiman took the new ball, Both finding extra pace and bounce, first too depart all be it reluctantly was BTCC captain Smith expertly caught in gully by Greg Drewery. Tissiman claimed his first of 4 by bowling Dobson with a leg stump Yorker, third wicket to fall went also to Tissiman caught at gully, 4th up was caught in close by Mike Drewery bowled by Moody, wickets were tumbling as Tissiman claimed his 3rd and 4th and finishing with figures of 4/9, Moody finished with 2/18. Richard 'eldest in the team' Foster took over from Moody with the luxury of down hill back wind and claimed a wicket first ball, soon after claiming his 2nd, a run out followed and Tom 'big foot' Sowersby finished things up caught one handed by Dawson..
Beverley all out for 41.
A ruthless 2nd half by LPCC and excellent bowling by all.
Man of the match Greg Drewey who stepped up and will surely now be looking for his maiden 1st team century this year(it will happen)
Next week sees the first team depart various destinations in Europe for family holidays and will give others there chance to make a name for themselves at Hornsea.
